The FleetEdge system alerted Vick McCoy of W.L. Hailey & Company of an alarm condition on one of his machines via email notification. It saved an engine. His reply was received less than two hours later –

"Thanks for the E-Mail. This machine was low on fluid. (The FleetEdge) system works!"

"We received a FleetEdge alert this morning notifying us of low engine oil pressure on a Backhoe. A call was placed to the machine operator to check the oil level. The operator called back, stating that the oil ‘didn’t even show up on the stick’, meaning the level was so low as to be undetectable.

By virtue of catching this situation, we may very well have avoided replacing the engine on the machine, saving us at least $7,500. The FleetEdge system works and adds value to the organization. Savings of this sort cannot be ignored."

"We received an alert on equipment #1944 Volvo A-25 articulated truck yesterday afternoon at about 5:00 PM notifying us of an engine overheating condition. An immediate check showed that the operator had turned off the machine at about the same time and could not verify a problem. Robert Tart went and checked the machine first thing this morning and discovered water in the oil, indicating either a cracked engine liner or a bad o-ring in the area of an injector tube. The machine is now at the repair shop.

By virtue of catching this early, we avoided a catastrophic engine failure and probably saved $5000 off the approximate cost of $12,000 for a complete engine rebuild."
