Emergency
Reporting
A major benefit
from the FleetEdge service comes from the notification of problems occurring
with a machine in the field. Given today's acute shortage of skilled operators,
this service has even more value when it comes to saving an expensive
component or machine.
A variety
of sensors and alarms are selected by the client's fleet managers and
the FleetEdge consultant. These can typically be (but not limited to):
- Low engine
oil pressure
- High engine
operating temperature
- High transmission
operating temperature
- High hydraulic
oil temperature
- Operation
in a restricted area (as defined by a GPS location)
- Operation
during an unauthorized time, etc.
- Certain
events can also trigger an alarm or signal resulting in notifications
or recording for a report. Daily load counts are an example.
Notification
of these events, alarms or counts can come in a variety of methods. The
fleet manager's and shop foreman's pagers or cell phones can be rung,
an e-mail can be sent to any address, daily production reports can land
on the President's desk or be sent straight to the project manager's and
superintendent's PCs.
